Some family members had something similar happen in the Boston area a couple years ago. They were on their way to meet us when their Uber driver was pulled over on the freeway for a revoked registration. The state police impounded his car on the spot and drove my family members the rest of the way. We joked that they switched from Uber to State Truber.
I don't think Uber offered them much more than "we won't charge you for the ride," either, although it's possible they got something like a $10 credit.
