Thanks, I did not know about the possibility to combine, so I didnt try and "paid" the higher miles fee. I was just happy to get the 3 miles upgrades. Please don't get me wrong, it shall not sound arrogant, but I have so many miles, and using them for upgrades is the only reasonable way to spend them in my opinion.
