I’d say you’ll be fine in October, it’s as good a month as any, and better than some.
Rainfall (whilst generally heaviest from around Dec-Feb) can come any time, often in heavy short bursts ; but the temperature itself is pretty consistent year-round, as in many tropical climates. Humidity can be more of a ‘factor’ than rain. There are also variations in terms of wind affecting different coastlines at different times of year (and hence preferred beaches) but I don’t have precise detail on that.
I’ve visited five times in all - at different times of year - and don’t remember any as being a
really bad period, weather-wise.
Seem to think that October is the ‘season’ for whale sharks and nesting turtles. Hopefully you can get to some of the smaller islands (La Digue, Praslin, Bird, Frégate) during your trip.
