I had thought the same, that the ticket wasn't technically refunded so counts as a reroute. But the next flight was indeed cancelled anyway when the weather didn't improve. Sounds like I might have a case then? But absolutely them paying for the taxi was pretty decent so I won't feel hardly done to if they say no!
