I don't know how, unless CTrip can verify the person's passport information, which I doubt that they can. CX can enforce that by requiring checking in with a Chinese passport though, but I don't see why CX should enforce something not from them.
i think they could. Either by searching if the inputted number match w the right name or by seeing the actual document.
very strange concept but i believe local laws turn a blind eye to privacy.
