Many years ago there was famous court case in Netherlands against KLM with similar circumstances ...tickets ex UK via AMS to KL systemwide were cheaper and people/agents would pull the first paper flight coupon,thus allowing boarding in AMS.However in the end I think KL won the judgement ...Which may have been reversed in their favour.
One could try this with EK however I would doubt if would get away with it, one time max ,and they would quickly notice it. Non paper tickets are now almost foolproof.
