From what I gather (being the operative word) The First Lounge is very grand with marble floors and excellent decor. The reception is at the entrance and there is an elevator to take the passenger to the lower level of the lounge. There are great views of the runway and great shower facilities and toiletries. Internet Access is free with a Wireless LAN card, otherwise its dialup with free local number access.

The Red Carpet Club is apparently extremely large and clean, with fantastic views.

Regarding LAX, hopefully NZ will put in a Premium transit facility to go with the new International Depatures Lounge or launch a HKG - LHR service.
