Yet another used-daily app decided to stop working with my 9.0.3 iOS operating system.
Finally, therefore, bit the bullet and upgraded to 11.2.6 -- of course there is no jailbreak available for that version yet (and somehow I missed what were very short windows for jailbreaks for earlier 11.x versions).
Already HUGELY missing the tweaks that having the jailbroken phone allowed me to do, like:
- Showing in the status bar which wifi network I'm connected to
- A couple of Facebook tweaks that allowed me to both get rid of some of the crap AND let me use an old version that didn't force Messenger on you.
- Legacy app switcher (I liked the iOS 7/8 app switcher much better than 9, 10, or 11)
- PDANet for tethering my iPhone safely
- Remote Messages (lets me write/respond to text messages using my computer. Worth the jailbreak all by itself)
- Type Status -- shows in the status bar when someone is typing a text message to me (and who it is)
- The typewriter click noise

- WiFi passwords -- maintains a list of all the passwords I've used on wifi networks
Maybe there's some app store apps that replicate some of these functions, but I haven't found yet.
There are also, I've discovered, a whole lot of fake jailbreak sites out there that purport to let you jailbreak any iOS but which are just phishes
Apple has done a good job incentivizing jailbreak writers not to keep up their work, but I'm hoping that one of them will still post a 11.2.6 jailbreak and I'll be speedy enough to catch it.
