Yes 1-1 ratio for both.
I have always booked my travel elsewhere and then applied credit. This works perfectly for scam charges with Aeroplan or Avios bookings.
In the 3 years I’ve had my Scotiabank Gold AMEX they have never offered and bonuses or sales for travel but they do if you want to redeem for gift cards and merchandise.
