I've actually been thinking about this as well. I'm currently based around IAH for the majority of the year, so UA makes the most sense right now. But after next May 2019, I'll be moving back to New York full time, with maybe once/twice a month trips to IAH/CLL. Thinking about how its kind of a burden to always be stuck to *A just so I can get PQMs to requal for 1K. Especially since I almost always am in paid F, status doesn't mean much anymore. And when I'm based in NY I'll have a lot more options then IAH based, so might just say screw status and just pick whatever airline has best price/routing in F for where I need to go.
