A few years ago, I priced up a work trip. WT was £1300. WT+ was £800. So I sought to get the thumbs up on an exception to the corporate travel policy.
Seemed like a no brainer to me. Happy employee getting a better seat on a long flight. Happy company saving £500. Took some doing, but common sense prevailed in the end.
yes these funky algorithms play havoc with corporate travel strategies. I bet you if it was Ikea, they would fly economy even if business was cheaper
