Also, I did make the 3:35PM flight without issue. In fact, I was headed down the escalator to customs/immigration at 2:40PM and was back in the termainal post-security at 2:53PM. I really, really didn't want to wait around for ~5 more hours when it was already late on Germany time.

I may also consider sending Delta a note asking them to add something to the app that clarifies situations like this. It could even be as simple as a notification that lets you know what's happening.
