I have experience of arriving at every possible gate in FRA from the UK with the exception of AEUW (usually early morning flights) but I have no experience of connecting from ANS (A non-Schengen bus gate) to B non-Schengen. The escalators from ANS take you up to the unclean Z arrival level where you are directed to transfer security. I don't believe you can go to the Skyline shuttle platform from this level without going through security first. However, the Skyline shuttle itself is 'unclean' so on arrival in B you will have to clear security (again). The Skyline shuttle is the only way you can move between Z and B without entering Schengen but I have not travelled between Z and B in recent years (only B to Z ) and cannot tell exactly what to expect. About a week ago I did arrive on the Z (unclean) arrival level but after security I went through passport control down to A and did not use the Skyline shuttle.

I'd certainly be interested in hearing how you find your way from ANS to B31 if these are indeed your gates. Gate assignments can and do change at any time.
Just a follow up on my experience! Indeed the gates remained as they were at T-72, and we arrived at ANS, with my departure gate being B33 (bus gate). However, on arrival at ANS (after the bus journey back to the terminal), a Lufthansa member of staff had a sign with my flight number on it (and that of another flight number as well). It ended up being that myself and one other passenger were connecting to the B gates. So escorted by the memeber if staff we were led to a car, and whisked to what I believe was an A gate, where we were let in the terminal. From here, I followed the signs to the B gates, which involved taking the Skytrain (i believe that is what it is called). I continued to follow the signs for the B gates, and encountered transfer security (which was dead at that time of night). After I went through and found B33.

Have to say that the connection journey was very long and took about 45 minutes from plane door to B33. I was surprised at how much walking I had to do! My iPhone clocked 1.2 miles for the transfer! My first LH experience was nice (by intra-EU standards) but I have to say FRA (in my one experience) is not the most user friendly of airports to transfer at.

My return is coming up with a much more manageable BNS to B24 transfer! Thanks for your help NewbieRunner !
