As a DM, the window for upgrades to FC is supposed to be 5 days. But - other than gate upgrades - does anyone know when/how does Delta decide that they will kick in the upgrade? Curious because of my current situation. Flying tomorrow morning and there are eight seats open on FC on my first leg, but they did not upgrade me yet. On the next - very short flight - only 3 seats were open when they automatically upgraded me.

Btw, when I say "open" I mean number of seats 'remaining' that shows up on the Upgrade/Standby tab on the app. I know that sometimes they are actually booked and waiting for the person to check-in. But 8 seats seem to be a large number of available seats for not automatically upgrade before the 24 hour window. Just wondering.
