It is a very short walk from TBIT to T4.
And luggage carts are free at international arrivals, as far as I remember.

I don't know if they will be able to issue bag tags at TBIT bag re-check. As a minimum, I'd guess you should be checked in to your AA flight and have your printed boarding pass with you to try asking for bag-tagging at TBIT international arrivals.
