I'm guessing this depends on how the Aspire resort credits show up on Amex statements. Do they appear as a credit directly from the property/Hilton, or as a credit from Amex?
If it's a credit from the property, then I could see it getting clawed back from a systems perspective, as your total spend would be calculated as $400 - $250. No different than if you returned merchandise tied to an Amex offer.
However if the resort credit appears as a credit from Amex or something besides the property directly, then I'd think you'd be fine to double dip.
I haven't used any of my resort credit yet so not sure how it shows up.
