I'm both Virtuoso and Starwood Lux Pri. Both rates earn SPG. In 99% of cases I would put my client in the Lux Pri rate as this should provide the most recognition from the property.

Hmmm. I mainly use the Amex card for airfare and occasional FHR (as well as lounge access). I normally use my Marriott card at SPG and Marriott properties otherwise. I thought I was getting 5 points on the Amex but from a quick look I'm not sure I'm getting any points from Amex.
In your view, setting aside the Amex points, what are the advantages of the different rates (Virtuoso, LHV, FHR) assuming the rates were the same?
