In another forum, it was reported that China Airlines were disappointed with their version of Skycouch licensed from NZ with very poor customer feedback. For all these years, the only other airline NZ managed to sell this to is Azul.
I personally don't get the economics of it. How do you make more money by losing the revenue from an empty seat and charging a fraction of the fare to a Skycouch buyer? And for all the reasons given above, why would anyone choose it over Premium Economy? There may be a market for family with kids but do young kids care how they sleep on a plane?
Apparently NZ haven't given up on this product and will be displaying it at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg next month.
