Interesting that the "happy hour" at the Gold lounge only lasts for 1h. I didn't realize it even existed, but one hour does seem rather stingy.
I guess it gets rather crowded in the lounge during that time?
Indeed, 1 hour is quite short, but with that said I did not expect free alcohol at all so I was rather positively surprised particularly given the quality of the wines available.
A few years ago, in Fairmont Hamilton Princess alcohol was not free at all in the evening in the Gold lounge, which is why I was expecting the same in Southampton. I do not know if things have changed recently in Hamilton or not.
I can imagine that in high season the Gold Lounge would be quite busy from 5pm to 6pm. It's only March and one evening I sat alone at a table for 3 and the staff asked me at 5:30pm if an older couple could sit with me because other tables were occupied. The other night was quieter and lots of seats available.
