Thanks for all the information.

It seems a taxi from XMN Terminal 3 to/from hotel at Bailuzhou Park is the easiest?

Would you recommend taxis from/to Bailuzhou Park for the ferry to/from Gulangyu, botanical garden etc? Are the local buses easy to use for a non-Chinese speaker/reader? I always prefer cheaper public transport and have never had difficulties in other countries around the world, I'm just on the cautious side because I can not even guess at the Chinese language (trying to learn a little but it's difficult) for bus route/station names etc. I'm guessing, although I could be wrong as I cannot find the answers otherwise, that signs are not written in both Chinese and English characters (unlike in Japanese, Thail cities etc.). Ideally, I'd always like to walk everywhere, even if it's miles so what is Xiamen like for walking access? Do the roads/bridges all have pedestrian pavements and traffic lights for crossing?
