Interesting special meals on Asian airlines

Not sure if this is the best forum in which to post this, but since I usually fly airlines such as Thai Airways, China Airlines, EVA, and Korean Air, I thought I'd try it here.

I fly to Thailand from the US west coast at least once a year. I often find the standard meal offerings very unappetizing, so I'm often on the lookout for interesting alternatives. In the past, I had great success ordering EVA's "Hindu Vegetarian" option, despite the fact that I'm neither Hindu nor a vegetarian, but I have to say, the meals under that option were superbly prepared, and very tasty...not the best Indian food I've ever had, but by far the best airline food I've ever eaten. Alas, EVA seems to have discontinued the Hindu Vegetarian meal (their "Asian Vegetarian" option is uninspired, at best).

So my question is this: have you had any experience on Asian-based airlines with ordering special meals (vegetarian seems to be a good option to inspire imaginative and careful preparation, but I'm open to others) which were exemplary? The airlines I'm likely to fly include China Air, EVA, Thai, Korean Air, Asiana, Philippines...you get the idea.

Thanks in advance for any experiences you can share!
