You could still invoke “credit as originally ticketed” rule.

Even if holding tickets to a cancelled flight, you’d still hadn’t won. ATC strikes are force majeure, for example. AF could argue a general strike was out of its control

There will be a French ATC strike on 22 March. This also affects flights over France such as AMS-FCO.
Lots of lights will try not to go over France, but the surrounding air space will be saturated.
Not sure how typical it is, but my FCO-AMS flight missed France completely, going as far east as Innsbruck and up Germany.
