Just service culture. If you go when they are not there, it's no big deal. The service in this hotel is incredible. The hotel looks slightly dated in places, but also mixed with newer furnishings in other places. I would have no hesitation in staying here again.
What's around it in the neighborhood? Surabaya is supposed to have a colonial old town that's worth visiting.
