Hmm, final thoughts.
The staff are honestly fabulous (to be fair they have been all over Myanmar). I was chatting to the F&B manager during breakfast and he gave me his card and said that if I had problems again give him a message and he'd arrange, and no problem late at night since he stays up late to talk to his fiancee back home. Just one example of that sort of thing.
My wifi problems were in part helped by clicking "auto join this network" which wasn't on for some reason, it helped, a bit but not totally. Network speeds varied dramatically.
The pool villa is large, I've voiced my thoughts on the open atrium, but also there's window panels there with blinds, and the bathroom which is technically a separate building has them too. They appear to open the blinds in the morning when they clean the rooms (I was only there one morning for this so can't be 100% it always happens), which means the naked stroll after the shower can give passerby a nice view too.
I don't find the location good, as mentioned it seems the tuktuk guys dont work late. To be fair there isn't much to do in the evenings anyway so no big deal really. I decided to go to a restaurant near the hotel for dinner one night and the manager walked me to the tuktuk guys outside and got me the price for a trip to the restaurant, waiting time and the drive back which was very cheap, and the restaurant was great, Interestingly they're not allowed to give restaurant recommendations, due to 'hygiene reasons' sort of managed to intimate the one I went to . I'd like to have eaten at the hotel restaurant one night to see what it was like (I believe the F&B manager and chef came from the hilton in the maldives) but just didn't have time. The hotel has electric bikes which you can rent.
The gym really is a few cv machines, dumbells which dont go high enough in weight and a smith machine.
It was sort of suggested to me that the hotel beach wasn't the best to swim on by the staff there, but a french family I spoke to said they loved it with lots of colourful fish around, cant comment since I never went in!
One final thought, they operate a shuttle bus to the main beach, but it only goes 4 times a day, which I don't really understand. Theres about a 4 hour gap in the middle of the day when it doesnt operate for no apparent reason.
I should also point out that as I was leaving the room I found the piece of paper saying soft drinks were complimentary at the hotel restaurant during the day.
Would I stay again? Tough call, its expensive at $200 a night for the basic room, and a nuisance. But the staff are superb and the hotel certainly is very very luxurious. If you're happy just relaxing there its perfect... There are very large, nice looking resorts directly on the main beach so they're certainly worth considering.
