Each to their own I suppose. I’m not so bothered about room temperature but I do appreciate that for others it’s a legitimate concern. If I go to a hotel without decent toiletries it’s a bit like staying somewhere worse than my own home which doesn’t seem to be the point of luxury hotels.
Room temperature can of course be adjusted (within reason) on a room by room basis to meet the needs of a broad spectrum of customers. Generally speaking, they are going to standardize on one brand of bath products, sometimes for the whole property, sometimes for the entire chain. Obviously, if enough people felt as you do, they would change course. Clearly they haven't.
The reason I stay in luxury hotels has nothing whatsoever to do with the type of bath products that I have at home. Rather, I stay at luxury hotels because I don't have a home in the location that I'm visiting.
