It's not like Canada is rife with MRO's that have paid the money to TCCA, invested in the people, resources and IP to become STC holders for GoGo Ku band Wi-Fi installation for 737 Max aircraft.
I would rather that AC have organized themselves with their vendors in advance such that the plane went straight from Boeing to the MRO for WiFi installation such that when it entered service, it was equipped with all of the amenities that have become customary. AA and WN seem to have figured out this logistical exercise as their inaugural 7M8 flights had WiFi.

Non-TCCA certified MROs, you'll say, perhaps, but as surely the #1 customer for those TCCA-certified MROs, one would have expected AC to be able to get those MROs to get themselves lined up for AC's delivery schedule.

While you seem to think that responding abstractly to my posts rather than quoting them and replying more directly somehow gives you higher moral authority, I have no time for such childish nonsense.

It's amazing how little perspective you get from up on that high horse though. Based on your logic, why would airlines install WiFi at all? Of course, your logic is faulty since WiFi has become commonplace because there's demand for it.

It must be nice to have a job that doesn't require travel or that allows you to schedule your work life around when you do travel. Many of us don't have these luxuries and in-flight WiFi is a useful tool that allows us to get our work done even while stuck on a plane, which allows us to better respond to issues that arise while in the air or to avoid having to work after arrival.

Being out of touch for the 4+ hours between YYC and IAH, for example, can therefore be a non-trivial inconvenience. The annoyance caused by that inconvenience is aggravated by the fact that:
  • AC has worsened on this front. They finally finished installing WiFi on all the narrowbody jets (save CRJ) in early 2016 or whenever it was and it was possible to consistently expect and receive WiFi.
  • AC's competitors all have this figured out. I can get on a narrowbody UA, DL or AA flight within North America and know that I will have WiFi.
So I have recently directed several thousand dollars of business to other airlines rather than book flights that AV has scheduled as CR9 or 7M8 because I was going to be travelling during the day and wanted WiFi. Those flights were less convenient or more expensive than AC's.

If you don't care about WiFi, that's fine. But save us all from your self-righteous crap because there are people who have needs and desires that are entirely different from yours.
