I am laughing at the above post. UAL was horrible and threatening to me too when I was desperately trying to calm down my son. British Airways was so wonderful, even if I was getting in the way of their carts in the galley. They have earned my undying gratitude even though my sons are now great travellers. Staying off of American airliners is the best advice I can give to someone travelling with a small child. I don't know that a nanny service would have helped us though. Sometimes there is just no way to calm a tired toddler on an airplane. The good thing is that with the advent of personal TV's on most long-haul flights (and once the child has turned 4 or so), long distance flying is no longer quite so difficult.
