Post Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka'anapali report

Just completed a 4-night award stay at the Westin Maui. As SPG Vanilla, we were upgraded from a Golf King to Ocean View King on the 7th floor of the Ocean Tower at check-in (had 4 individual award nights with the last in a Golf Double, so agent was able to keep us in same room after checking with manager).

The room was nicely appointed and fairly spacious, so much so that it felt like there should have been an armchair and ottoman in the corner. Standard desk, plasma TV, and minifridge. Bathrooms are nicely done, with nice tiles and fixtures, though a little on the small side, with a single vanity outside the toilet & shower room (no tub). There is also a mirror on the opposite side of the vanity, and a pass-thru area so it's workable for 2 people to get ready at the same time. Lots of outlets all around, which was much appreciated. The Ocean Tower rooms have small balconies enclosed with a glass paneled railing, enough space for 2 chairs and a small table.

It was windy and overcast for most of our stay (many people sitting around the pools wrapped in towels), but we spent most of the time diving and eating, so it didn't affect us too much, and was better than a Nor'easter! Did get to try out the waterslide as well (you have to go thru the pool where it ends to access the stairs to the top). Adult hottub at the top level was heavily occupied in the afternoon by a young crowd, but less crowded in the morning, though some (well-behaved) children were let slide as well.

MonkeyPod in Whaler's Village, just a few steps away, was our favorite for lunch, with Happy Hour specials on some food and drinks from 3-5p.

The Spa is expensive, like everything else on Maui, but the Lomilomi massages were great, and you get free use of the Spa for the entire day of your treatment, with sauna, steam room, hot tub, and nice views of the ocean.

Concierge desk offered a tour of the new Westin Nanea Villa property for 10,000 SPG points, but we opted to enjoy the pool on our last day instead.

$31.25/day resort charge + $30/day for mandatory valet parking. Call Service Express with the last 4 digits of your valet number to ask them to bring your car around ≈5-10 min in advance to avoid having to wait. Towel cards in use, but if housekeeping takes your beach towels, you can just ask for replacements at the towel desk by the pool.

Hope this is helpful! dstanhotelreport
