I personally like the embassy Suites downtown, but they did give us the Presidential suite last time and that may be influncing my decision.

There are many, many, many good and great B&B's in Portland to consider too. We use to stay at the Lion and the Rose (www.lionrose.com) when we visited, but then they sold the place, we haven't visited in a while, but will probably stay there again.
