Is 4:20 still a little tight? This is assuming that I have to clear immigration and check in again. Planning to do this in January 2019. I don't have an issue with taking the late night SQ flight out of BOM, but I generally prefer not to take relatively short redeye flights (even in J). Thanks!

should be no problem at all. I came thru BOM a week ago. Arrived @ 2300 and cleared immigration/customs in 30-40 minutes (including getting baggage). They do have dedicated immigration counters for J/F. I was the first person in the line. They are quite efficient.
