I did however have a very stern dragon at CCR reception give me a dressing down before entry, with her stating very bluntly "don't even bother trying to get served alcohol" and I listened to her because I didn't really fancy the embarrassment of being chucked out or worse. We all know how heavy handed law enforcement can be in the US. The ground staff at JFK actually notified the crew onboard to inform them that I was not be served alcohol on US soil, which was just a bit bemusing and surreal to both myself and the crew. Thankfully the nice ladies serving the upper deck said sod that and, in the most British of ways, I was brought my pre-departure champagne, without a hint of protest from me obviously!
I can confirm I had a similar experience (except the talking to the crew, in fact in CCR I was told "once you're onboard they'll be happy to serve you"). I was 16 at the time.
