As a general rule of thumb, anyone under 18 years old cannot enter the BA lounges, at least not at Gatwick, due to alcohol being served, as mentioned above. They are usually given a voucher to use in the departure lounge, around the value of £30, as a kind of compensation.
If a minor is guested in by someone older than 18 years, they are responsible for the minor's behaviour and conduct.
