There are plenty of times I have worked through lunch in order to make it to the airport in time for a 6pm flight and frankly, I am really hungry but don't want the food UA is serving. I will frequently grab something from one of the many retail vendors as I am making my way to the gate. If I have time I will sit down and eat it before boarding but many times there just isn't adequate time. It is saved me a couple of times where we end up on a ground stop and the onboard meal isn't served for a long while. If I waited till 10 pm when I get home I would be pretty hangry. Secondly, the airline meals can get monotonous when you are a consultant taking the same flights week after week where there seems to little deviation in the meals offered.
