ANA 777 from IAD lands at Haneda on Sunday
ANA 777 flight from Washington DC to Tokyo landed at Tokyo Haneda Airport instead of Narita.
The 777 was having engine trouble at IAD, and the flight was delayed for 9hrs. However, the revised arrival time in Tokyo has passed Narita's curfew time (2300-0600). As a result, the plane landed in Haneda.
Then the historical record was set. At least 79 passengers cleared custom in Haneda. This is the first time in 25 years that Haneda's custom accepts international scheduled flight passengers. (China Airlines' case was not counted in this case)
There are now voices wanting Haneda goes International once again, not just limited to charter flight. Furthermore, a proposal has been made for possible Tokyo Haneda and Seoul Gimpo (Domestic) service.
