Did you get stuck in Verify by Visa/MasterCard hell?

It seems like in the last few years, using my U.S. Visa card has become more and more difficult on foreign websites. Living in Asia, it often means I have to choose between booking directly from an airline (which I prefer) or booking from an agent like Orbitz or Ctrip.
