I think Air NZ made a mistake installing the 787 business class seat and should have taken the opportunity for a new product. The main mistake was making it narrower than the 777. Having said that I am very happy sitting in it because it is comfortable, and it is very comfortable for sleeping. I tend to watch movies on my own tablet but if I want to watch the IFE I make sure I'm set up before the meal. I also enjoy the food. The lack of overhead locker space is now an issue, but that's not Air NZs fault. An FSM told me a few days ago they were working on a solution.
