In respect of the quality of the bath amenities there has been something of a race to the bottom over the last few years. My pet hate at the moment is the mean and miserable minuscule bottles provided in Sheratons, world wide. Le Grand Bain ...anything but in fact. Hardly enough in the bottles for a single application and my arthritic fingers struggle to get the dregs out ( it was only a relatively few years ago that the better Sheratons offered Floris bath products. That was great; still is but at about £20 a bottle I can understand why it's off the menu.
Similarly LeM used to provide Nina Ricci, then shifted to Cinque Monde, now a Few have gone to Malin and Goethe, a bit more upmarket but most stick with Cinque Monde.
If the hotels feel the need to get cheap about bath products, then the Aloft system of in-shower dispensers has something going for it. Mostly Bliss and it's *ok*, not really the same as store bought, IMO...but at least you don't run out mid-application
