I was initially going to write that, except for the fact that another one of my top 10 would be to get the Schwab Investor Checking card and use it to obtain fee-free, market-rate cash at nearly any ATM in any country. That thing has been my trusty sidekick through dozens of countries, and a lifesaver in places that are still cash-based economies. So, one very important exception to the rule!
(So maybe the rule could be "Don't use a debit card as a debit card"
).
