QF operated services within USA (eg LAX-JFK vv) not permitted unless booked as a through flight segment between Australia & USA (eg SYD-JFK vv)
My reading is that QF operated flights within the U.S. can be booked as a connection with a QF coded flight between Australia and the U.S. So, QF operated JFK-LAX connecting to AA operated LAX-SYD sold as QF would be OK, with a connection up to 24 hours.
