Yes, obviously a cultural thing.

Slippers as a "basic amenity"? No

People shower with bar soap? Yes (though "body wash", which is just soap, is almost always provided IME).

Yes, most US-based travelers actually carry a razor and toothbrush. When they are provided by a hotel, they are horrible quality items - 1 use/1stay throw-away quality.

Curious - what prevents you from taking off your shoes?
