You can easily go back to the same store, find the employee, and ask his name, and even snap a photo if you wanted. You could also ask him to look up the old order again, and have him show you where the old order is described as 40 or 42. (You could even snap a photo of the computer screen if it says 42.)

Hell, in many states you could even take video of you asking him to look up the old order in the computer system and if the computer says 42, you then showing him his own post-it note of "40 short". (It's somewhat theatrical and over-the-top but it'd prove the point.)

Then you could send the story summary, the employee name, and photo of his post-it note noting "40 short" to the Brooks Brother executive response team.
