Do not use a debit card for hotel incidentals and do not use a debit card for what you think of as a hold. It will be treated by a US bank, if that is what this is, as a withdrawal and it can take long time to get it redeposited.

If the property places an additional $200 per day "hold" for a 14-day stay, that is $2,800 taken from your account and then redeposited at some time after you leave.
