We are flying AKL-DOH-SOF on QR in a couple of weeks, followed by an overnight stay in SOF and BA SOF-LHR the next day. Our DOH-SOF leg arrives 1 hour 50 mins before the same day SOF-LHR departs, so I thought it would be safer to stay overnight and take the same SOF-LHR flight the next day (there seems to be only one per day). The BA flight is the return part of a return ticket to SOF on a BA Avios RFS reward.

if the QR flight lands on time or early and we make it through collecting luggage and passport control etc quickly — can I then call BA and get the return of the RFS changed to the flight on the same day? It will be more than 24 hours before scheduled departure of the flight, which I understand is allowed (although not officially in the t&c for reward flights). Will the short time to departure of the new flight make it impossible? Is it worth trying?
