Thanks for posting! I get over to Amsterdam a couple times a year on holiday, so I'm always interested to hear about Marriott options to stay with there. And based on your review, I don't think this one is going to be the right fit for me, so thanks for saving me from possibly taking the risk myself.
Unfortunately, I think the unfinished concrete industrial look is "in" at the moment. I stayed at the fairly posh Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel a year or so ago, and it too had sections of the walls and ceiling that were left as rough-looking, unfinished concrete. There must be a section of the traveling public that finds that cool and hip, but to me it almost seems like they're trying to sell us the emperor's new hotel room.
