I've sent a follow-up asking if BA Twitter can nail down an actual ticket agent opening time, which I assume they have. I might just give up and actually use the phone (gasp) and call.

I usually check in 2.5 hrs before departure and they always seem to have been open a while before that. I think 3hrs before should be just right.
