First of all, you're not an elite customer, or you would have sastisfied the requirements. Second, a "sophisticated, customer centric line of business" (or any line of a successful business for that matter) doesn't cave into the demands of one person at the expense of millions of others.

I don't think it's short-sighted at all,. They have decided that you're not the kind of customer they want, which is their right as a business. Just as it's your right to decide that they're not the kind of company you want.
