ORD-SDF is roughly an hour flight on a CR7. No way on earth I'd pay $1200+ roundtrip just to get on AA (even for F), especially nothing with an out of the way CLT connection or overnight.

Right now UA has the nonstops in Y at your preferred times for $320 roundtrip, even cheaper depending on how early you can leave on the 20th. Do that.
