Why would an airline park them for years. Surely their value would reduce, the longer they are parked.

Was told that A340s burn more fuel than a similar sized twin, but surely if their value is remarkably reduced, it would still be worth flying them, even if only in busy periods.
You wouldn't see any "parked" at UTP - too much humidity.

More likely at Mojave desert.
