I don't get it. There are lots of charitable organizations out there (ie. Religous congregations, Rotary clubs, etc.) and I can't think of a SINGLE ONE where some stranger walks in and asks for a free trip to Hawaii, and then has a HORRIBLE IMPRESSION of the members because they don't give them what they ask for, but offer alternative suggestions as to how that person might accomplish the stated goal.
In every post I have made, I have wished this person and her mother the best. I continue to do so.
If I were her, I would do the one of the following:
1) Hit up family and friends first.
2) Take a cheap flight to LA and get a consolidator ticket to HNL.
3) Use Priceline.
4) Take the greyhound to LA and take a consolidator flight.
The bottom line is that if you're not willing to do those things and make the sacrifices that are encompassed therein, it's not that important to you.
And I agree, that people should not presumptavely laugh, but her comment about not using priceline because she wouldn't get miles was, in my opinion, reflective of someone whose priorities were screwed up.
Peace to all.
