The schedule/time table is a bit messed up. I just goto Japan for scenery, history, and food.
if you get riverview rooms, rc kyoto is better (some city view rooms faces a cemetery, now that you asked!)
that said, its a much shorter ride to rc osaka than kyoto. (75 mins on limo bus to rc osaka arriving just past 10; getting off next to the hotel vs 30 mins extra if you take a express train + taxi arriving at almost 11 .)
same applies to the last day when you go to itm. A 30 minute ride vs 60.
Given the circumstances i may choose RC Osaka instead and take a train to kyoto
